Reasons for
these statements:
- To
enable Worth
to affirm its
distinctive
organisational
approach within
the context
of European
legislation
and any subsequent
legislation
that makes
a particular
faith or value
base to an
organisation
difficult to
maintain.
- To
affirm the
common values
and practices
of Worth which
will underpin
our policies
and future practices.
- To
be clear in
the ‘market
place’ about
who we are
and what we
stand for.
Principles to
these statements:
- These
statements
are in the
context of
legislation
and overall
direction of
the organisation.
They should
therefore seek
to be ‘Christian’ whilst
inclusive and
not tied to
one particular
theological
tradition.
This enables
a broad range
of funding,
partnerships
and staff.
- The
statements
should be simple
so as to be
inclusive yet
clear.
- We
will foster
creativity
and innovation
and remain
focused on
socially excluded
young people

Statement of
Belief
We accept the
historic truths
of the Christian
faith including:
- God
as Creator
of all mankind
and the Father
of all who
believe in
the Jesus as
Messiah (the
Christ) and
Lord.
- Jesus
of Nazareth
as Lord and
Messiah, is
the Son of
God, redeemer
of the world
and the one
Mediator through
faith in whom
alone we obtain
forgiveness
of sins.
- God
the Holy Spirit
- The
fact of sin
and the necessity
of Atonement
- The
Incarnation,
Death, Resurrection,
Ascension and
Coming again
of Jesus as
Messiah and
Lord.
- The
centrality
of the Bible
in determining
the will and
purposes of
God, especially
in the way
it relates
to matters
of belief and
the secular
world.
- The
one holy, universal
Church which
is the Body
of Christ and
to which all
true believers
belong.
